Cape Town marchers join protests against Trump’s Jerusalem move

The marchers, who are expected to conclude their demonstration at Parliament, called for the downgrading of South Africa’s embassy in Israe

CAPE TOWN – Cape Town traffic is likely to come to a standstill this lunchtime as protesters take to the streets in support of Palestine.

A group of religious leaders and protesters have joined demonstrations seen worldwide in recent days against US President Donald Trump’s contentious move to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Local protesters made their way to Parliament in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Palestinian flags could be seen at the march.

Demonstrators chanted “free Palestine” and “down with Donald Trump” as they added their voices to protests across the world.

The marchers, who are expected to conclude their demonstration at Parliament, called for the downgrading of South Africa’s embassy in Israel.
